Pupils scale new heights on residential trip
Year 5 pupils at Brocks Hill Primary School had a fantastic time on a recent trip to Caythorpe Court in Lincolnshire. An annual three-day residential experience, the trip is an opportunity for pupils to embrace positive challenges while also learning to work as team, build trusting relationships and overcome fears.
The excited cohort – accompanied by 10 members of staff – set off just before lunchtime on Wednesday, arriving at the centre in good time.
Once there, they wasted no time in getting involved with some of the interactive activities. They were split into two groups, with the first group tasked with negotiating the abseiling wall while the second group ascended the adjacent climbing wall.
After an afternoon spent scaling new heights, there was just enough time to enjoy dinner before the pupils reconvened for their silent disco!
Over the next two days, pupils had a blast engaging with various other activities. They scrambled up the climbing pole before taking the dreaded leap of faith, got hands-on in the woods - where they created their own campfires – and whizzed across the zip wire; even Mr Orton had a go!
Elsewhere, they took to the water for canoeing, hiked through the countryside, built shelters and learned how to accurately use a compass.
What a brilliant few days! The children threw themselves into each activity with tremendous enthusiasm and enjoyed the opportunity to push themselves and learn new skills!
