Terrific Twycross Zoo visit

Earlier this month, 57 Year 1 pupils from Brocks Hill Primary enjoyed a fantastic day out at Twycross Zoo.

The trip – an annual event which has now been running for three years – provided the children with a brilliant opportunity to build upon the work they have been doing in their science lessons; learning about animals and sorting them into categories.

In the stunning summer sunshine, learning was well and truly brought to life for the excitable pupils, who gazed in astonishments at a wide range of animals they had previously only seen in textbooks.

They saw; monkeys, chimpanzees, gorillas, tigers, zebras, giraffes, flamingos, tortoises, meercats, leopard and parakeets. The children especially loved watching the penguins waddling on land before diving into the water.

Pupils enjoyed a lovely picnic in the sun and were even able to spend some time playing on the playground before it was time to head for home.

Once again, the trip was a tremendous success and the all the children thoroughly enjoyed seeing their learning brought to life.

A special mention to the parents and carers who volunteered on the trip. Without your support it would not have gone ahead. Thank-you!
