Year 5 trip to Leicester's Central Mosque
This week, our Year 5 pupils visited Leicester’s Central Mosque to find out more about how Muslims practice their faith.
They met with a friendly Imam who talked to our pupils about the use of the 5 pillars of Islam and showed them the salat, where prayers are performed, and the ablution, where Muslims go to wash before praying.
Our pupils learned a lot about the architecture of the building, including why domes are a common feature in Mosques. They use dome-shaped buildings to allow a room full of people to hear the Imam at the front without a microphone- how interesting!
We are looking forward to visiting another place of worship next academic year to broaden our pupil’s knowledge of a range of faiths.
